405 remote locking problem

Post by fodtommo »

Hi

I am sure that this is acommon problem!

The reomte central locking on my '96 405 GLX estate has stopped working. For a while before it stopped I was having to press the key button harder and harder to get it too work so I suspect the key os at fault. I changed the battery and the little red light comes on?

Its not the end of the world but just a bit annoying!!

Any thoughts - is iot possible to get new keys cheaply ( I only have one, but it still has the little number sticker inside.

Thanks

Tom

I think the last time I enquired about a new key it was going to cost about £90, but I can't remember for certain.

Edit: Should say that was for a key for my old 96-reg 405.

Point the key at a digital camera and push the button. Look on the LCD screen and you should be able to see the beam shining if it's working. I'm also reasonably sure there's a method to pair the key with the receiver in the car. They've maybe fallen out after the battery change :D
