106 locks.

Post by Chlorate »

Last week my 106 was stolen from outside my house in broad daylight. It was recovered the next day and by the looks of things it was hotwired, so they didn't have a key and the windows weren't broken.
-Does anyone know if 106 locks were of the old kind that could be opened simply with a coat hanger?
-Can the boot hatch be unlocked from the inside without damaging it?
-Also is there a way to disable the keypad immobiliser?

The car was a petrol N reg mark 2 XN model. No electric locks.
I know this is a bit of a suspicious thing to ask, but I'm just curious.

See my thread in for sale and wanted: "wanted, my car back please" for the full story.

A 106 can easily be opened in less than 10 seconds with no damage whatsoever or any trace that it was tampered with. You dont even need anything as sophisticated as a coat hanger.

The boot can be opened from the inside just by pulling the rod going onto the latch.

There is not any way to easily bypass the keypad on a petrol model that im aware of without knowing the code or without using some specialist software. You didnt leave the code as 1111/0001 did you :?:

Has the steering lock been broken ?

EDIT: I just read your other post about the car & noticed the code was indeed 1111. This is well known & can usually be guessed as the no 1 button is much more worn than the others.

Yeaaaah...
Never thought to change it, apparently neither did the 5 previous owners.
I found it more of an annoyance.

Yeah apparently the steering lock has been broken. Although I haven't seen the car myself I got my mum to check to see if it would lock up (which was infuriatingly difficult to explain).
Out of interest how does one bust the lock on a 106 that easily?

GSF do an ignition lock T92802 in there 06 catalouge for 43.50 quid, or a complete lock set T87543 64 quid,

these prices might be slightly diferent as this is an old catalouge
