Post by xantia 1.9td 1999 »

My wipers failed on my car this morning, iv glanced at the fuses and a 10amp was blown, i replaced it and the rear started working, however, the fronts are not working, all others fuses seem fine. ANY IDEAS?

Have a poke in the firewall bay, looking for any damaged electric connector to the wiper motor and drive.
Chances are either a cable fault or a busted motor.

The complete motor drive & link gear assembly can be removed as a unit. Out in daylight it is fairly easy to reveal the problem.

The washer motors are known to get bad electrical connections over time.
Its the spade conncetors crimped on the wiring that are the problems.

Thanks again,, the washers sorted, i think it was frozen need to get some blue stuff in the washer botle, cant remeber what its called.

PROBLEM: the front wipers only work on the second setting, i think it might be the motor. When i deactivate the wipers they dont seem to park up in the correct place. I was reading an article on HONESTJOHN, a chap their has posted a good diagnostic. IF YOU GOOGLE "306 WIPER PROBLEM" ITS THE FIRST ARTICLE...i have not tried the recommendation yet, once i get around to it i will post back.
