806 Clarion PU-2294A cd won't work

I have a 2000 X 806 with a Clarion PU-2294A. The radio seems to work fine, even without the ignition on? But the cd doesn't work. It takes the cd then after a minute chucks it out again. I was thinking of just buying another unit off e-bay or wherever but have read in a few places that this is a common fault and another 2nd hand unit may be the same. Is there something else I should be looking at to fault this? Any ideas?? Ta.
