HI all,
This cure is from my local Peugeot garage. My engine had a metallic tinkling noise from the drive belt area, only when hot. They removed the aux drive belt and ran the engine, the noise had gone. They replaced the Aux belt tensioner and I have had no problem since. I was informed this is a common problem as the bearing goes dry.
They also said if it had been the crankshaft pulley (another common problem), you would get the noise all the time, hot or cold, and metallic dust would be emanating from it.
