Hello all - spoke to the garage yesterday and I don't like the way it is going - they were not able to do a compression test as they did not have the right attachment, so it is to be done on Monday.
I asked what they were looking for and they said the guy at the diesel specialists said "if the engine had been overheated it can damage the piston rings"....
The engine has never been overheated in my ownership...but obviously when they took the head off there were some cracks.
But as I have said to them on several occasions, it drove perfectly before it went to them - and they never mentioned worn piston rings as a possibility at any stage before now, and they have merrily gone ahead and fitted a new head.
Is this likely - and where would I stand if they say that problem is nothing to do with them.....
