Hi Guys
The ol' girl has hit the 107k mark and is feeling "floaty" she had new rear bushes about 6 months ago all i could afford at the time.
The original shox arent leaking but should they be changed due to the mileage? Any other advice on components that require changing would be welcome.
thanks

Hi there.I once got my Mums Sierra Sapphire, which they had from new(87)in 2001.The ride was all over the place on that.I changed the bushes which helped, but decieded to change the original shocks as well. What a difference it made.Like yours, there were no signs of leaks etc,but think they were knacker`d through old age,& 105K miles. They were £100 for all 4,& dead easy to change being rear wheel drive with no front drive shaft etc.
The simple test to check the shocks, bounce & push down the car on each corner,it should return to the level straight away.If it bounces back up & then down again before settling, the shocks have proberly had it.
Hpoe this helps a bit
Cheers,Neil.

The fronts are harder than the rears. You would have to femove the suspension strut, which meens disconecting the brakes, driveshafts & anti roll bars etc.Its not a major job, proberly an hour to remove the whole lot if it all comes off ok.The hardest part is commpressing the springs,to be able to undo & remove the shocks. Most spring compressor tools from the shops are ok at the best.I hate doing it,as if the spring clamps fail or fly off,the spring etc can cause BAD damage to your self .I`ve proberly made it sound worse than it is.Once you`ve done it a few times its quite straight foward
The rears i`ve done on a few cars have only taken about 40 mins from start to finish for both sides.
