Cant help with the 605 but ive just replaced the clutch in my 405 (probably very similar but with more room in the 605)
I was fretting about doing it but all in all it went very well, took me about 12 hours including about an hour to remove the clutch lever(very poor design)
So i would have thought that a mechanic with a proper 4 post lift etc would do it in a day,i got some quotes before i did it myself and was looking at between 275 and 350 quid all in.It cost me in the end about 80-90 quid.
Cars only worth 300 quid if that :D

Ps,just remembered, the clutch that came out was a valeo one that had a date mark of 1993.So if it was the original it had done 190,000 miles

When I spoke to him, he said that his book of charging figures (I think they work out rough ideas for all timings for the labour charges) didn't show this car and engine combo for this job! In the end he based it on one of the petrol engines!

However, after having struggled for a day, he has tlooked at the 406 with the 2.1td lump, and found a 7hour time recomendation!

I'm glad I haven't bothered trying this on my own! Not like my little MR2!

I am expecting to find the original clutch - 145k miles!

1 and a bit days. Turns out that most of the delay was due to corroded fixings and such in very hard to reach places. Under the battery tray behind one pump or another! No idea. I am not shy of mechanical experience, but i am not brave enough to go near anythign under the bonnet of this monster!

No clutch cable required. Now accelerates with a little more vim and vigour as well.

I wish I had my little MR2 back, I could fix it all myself then!
