306 D Turbo Radiator replacement.

Post by pug_owner2002 »

Hi,

The radiator on my 306 decided to pour water all over the floor today.
Upon investigation it is comming from the bottome of the rad and the rad itself seems quite rotten in that area.
I am now going to have to replace it, is replacement as straight forward as it looks?
Also how much can I expect to pay for a new rad, I am considering going to the breakers but feel that this could be a bit of a false economy.

What do you guys think?

There was someone on here about 6 weeks ago who had the same idea, I think it was a 405 or 406 with a blocked rad.

The rad they got form the breakers didnt last long.

Best to get a new one in the long run, You can pick them up pretty cheaply now too, Also if your car has the stupid twisty water pipe connections get new O ring seals before you start, They are pence to buy but you can bet they will leak if you dont change them

I was that fool. I cannot recommend enough getting one new. And the o-ring thing too!

I paid £30 for a second-hand scrapper. and about the same on fuel driving backwards and forwards. A real pi55er was deciding to try the fix on a bank holiday weekend!

Ended up getting a recon job for £80.

Advance Radiatotr, I think.

Thanks for the replys chaps,

I've managed to get a brand new rad from a local supplier for £79.90 which seems a good price after phoning around.
I'm taking it to the mechanic that I normaly us as I haven't got time to fit it as the missis has got me decorating  .
He can also have a look at the noise I get when braking (my other post a while back).
