peugeot 306 revs on its own!!!!
hi can anyone help
my 306 decided all of a sudden to rev at 3000 instead of the normal 1000
all by itself but then goes to normal and fluctuates up and down again
we had a diagnostic done by independent garage free as he a friend and was told it is the steppo motor??
so we changed this and it is doing exactly the same as before and after talking to peugeot they say the steppo motor only controls air flow and stops car from stalling
can anybody give us a cure??
many thanks

There will be a fault somewhere with the system.
Are you 100% sure you dont have an airleak on the induction side? That would make the revs go through the roof?
Has the MAP sensor tested out ok?
Is the coolant temp sensor ok?
Is the steeper motor air bypass hole spotlessly clean? Was the O ring seal replaced?

i'd also agree that this has to be spotless, remove the stepper motor then get a rag soaked in WD40 wrapped round a small screwdriver & get right in about the part of the throttle body it sits in,you will see loads of black gunge coming out on the rag, clean the stepper motor again cause the black build up will have went onto the new stepper motor.PowerLee wrote: Is the steeper motor air bypass hole spotlessly clean?

hi guys been to peugeot today for the pugs second diagnostic
they say it is the coil pack gone down and has upset the ecu too!
apparantly you cant use them off another car(from scrappy) you have to buy new they have quoted £700+ to replace
help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ive seen ecu s on ebay with same number(sl96-9)
does anyone know if this would work i would think at the outside i would need it reprogramming but at least it wouldnt cost all that and i could buy new coilpack

Hmmmm coil pack faliure, Dont often hear about that fault
You can use a second hand ECU but make sure its UNLOCKED first before its removed form its original car.
Or try this company for a recon ECU with a warranty

I take it you mean the transponder control unit ? unplugging the engine ECU with the engine running would give a very high chance of Fuc***g it big time.PowerLee wrote:I was told it was unplug the ECU with the engine running to stop the immobiliser locking the ECU up again.
if you do then yes, unplugging the transponder control unit would also do the exact same thing, reason being if the two units cant comunicate with each other then they cant lock.i mentiond the ECU disconection method due to the fact that it was being removed anyway.
The imobiliser doesen arm till 30 seconds after the door is opened that why you only have 30 seconds to remove it.
I believe the immobiliser has a 30 second delay. If you should stall the car, the green light on the immobiliser stays on for quite a while (not timed it), so you can obviously get started again and on your way. Having to type in your code again would be a downright problem on roads in this day and age.
I found this out when trying to start away in third on a hill....
Hey, it worked in second....
