406 Trip Computer

My Mums p reg 406 1.9td Executive has a trip computer but it doesn't work. Nothing nadda ziltch.

I'm off to see my Folks in a couple of weeks time and I wanted a breakdown of what the possible causes might be. fore warned is fore armed and all that.

Also, the tape deck doesn't work, but the rest of the stereo does inc the cd changer. Any ideas?
