This might sound like a daft question, asking for someone else, but can anyone tell me the pressure rating for the radiator cap on a 405 SRi 1994 model (series 2)
I have my ideas but my friend called into a radiator specialist who told him something entirely different, so I'm trying to settle an argument.

Thanks Lee,
I take it that the reading there is 1.4 bar which would be what in psi??? About 22?
Reason I ask is that I was always under the impression that French cars usually took about a 1 bar cap (approx 14.5 psi) and someone has produced a service manual showing that as being the correct size, but could it be a case that a series one takes a different cap to a series two???

Thats what the Pug parts cd rom shows.
Series one 405s use a 1 bar pressure cap UNLESS its a XUD7TE in a hot country where it is a 1.4 bar pressure cap.
Series two 405s use a 1.4 bar pressure cap Except the following engine codes which use a 1 bar pressure cap.
XU52C
XU5M
XU92C
XU9J2
The above 4 engine codes must be another country other then the U.K. for series two 405s

I'll be seeing the car later today so I'll check the engine code then.
I wonder if the 1.4 bar cap is the reason a few of these blow the heater matrix like they do? After all almost 23 psi is around the pressure they used to use in the old crossply tyres and must put one hell of a strain on the components in the system.
