307SW Towbar wiring?
Hi, I've just got a Peugeot 307SW and have a towbar ready to fit.
Could anyone advise the best place to pick up the wiring points? I understand Peugeot sell a 'plug-in' kit, so I've been looking for a socket behind the boot side panels but can't find anything
Cheers,
Robin.

on the 306, they plug into the rear lights, and you plug the rear light connectors into the tow bar connectors if you know what i mean.
Theres a male connector that goes into the rear light clusters, and a female connector on the other side of it, and you plug the original plug into that and take the feed that way.
Hope this makes sense to you!!
Regards
David.

i've just had a look at mine, and there is one for both sides, i also think i got the male/female idea mixed up with another car, as the wiring kit i have next door (not on the car yet) has 2 connectors that go onto the lights beside the main connection points to the cars loom.
If your not in any great hurry for one, keep an eye out on ebay, i got mine for £5 instead of £40for a genuine Peugeot one. Just an idea to save you a few £'s.
Sorry if i confused you.

Re: 307SW Towbar wiring?
Hi,
Sorry to thread revive but I'm having a similar problem with my Peugeot 307SW, 2007 model year.
I have bought a proper (or so I believe, it went straight on) 307SW towbar from a breakers along with the loom to go with. I'm struggling with the wiring.
The pictures hopefully explain. I have worked out that the towbar loom plugs into each light cluster, and that there is another plug for each light cluster. That leaves two green/yellow stripe wires (earths I'm sure) and then a two pin connector, which on one side has a large red and small brown wire going to one terminal, and a light grey to the other. On the vehicle side, however, I have just a large plug with a large red wire to it, then a ten pin plug (which only has five wires going to it - white, purple, light blue, brown and red). Only the purple wire seems to have a permanent live to it.
My question is really two questions.
1 - can I use what I have here between the vehicle plugs and the towbar wiring to make it work?
2 - if I can't, is there any harm in using the purple wire from the 10 pin plug to run a towing relay? (Aka where does the purple wire go?).
Blue plug is towbar plug, other two are vehicle plugs. Close up of vehicle plugs. Vehicle plugs. Towbar plug.
Thanks in advance.
Jack.

Re: 307SW Towbar wiring?
Official PSA wiring kits generally have a specific loom for a specific vehicle (s) and these include a trailer fuse board unit that interfaces with the BSI / Engine Fuse box. So once the wiring part has been done at the light end, the plugs go into the trailer unit.
If you know the part number for your towbar electric wiring loom, I may be able to get you the wiring diagram. Failing that, pop your VIN up for me and I'll see what official compatible kits are shown and should be able to get you the official wiring instructions. So maybe you can work it out from that.

Hi, that's brilliant, thank you.
If you ever end up in Normandy I owe you a beer (or an orange juice if that's your poison), you helped me no end with the indicators on this one too!
Vin - VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
Photo below of tow bar plaque, ser no 9540 (followed by 03FV).
Type 3609
Approval number 11 00-3681
Can't thank you enough.

Marc,
Thank you.
Just to let you know that as of 5.30pm (here) I have not got an email.
There is no rush, only to say that if it is sent I haven't got it, if it hasn't yet been sent then all is fine.
I'll PM you to confirm.
Jack.
Thank you.

Yep it was in the spam folder
Thanks for that. Looks like someone has chopped this loom about so think I'll just go with a towing relay.
Anybody have a wiring diagram for the rear lights, or can tell me where the heavy red wire on the single plug goes? Wondering if I can use it for the towing relay, even if I have to modify the wiring at the front of the car, given this wire serves no purpose and is well up to the job of running trailer lights it would be ideal if I could use it.
