Plip key.Is it the right one?

Post by Quinny »

I've just bought a plip of Fleabay, and don't know if it's the right one for my 99 406 HDi.

It's a 2 button type, and there's a flashing red light next to the large button.

If it is the right one,how can I reprogamme it?

If it's the infra red type (the one you point at the car to open the doors) which it sounds like the plip you have got is as it's got the red light on.
You need to follow the below instructions that I've copied from my handbook to program the key to your car...

Reprogramming of the central locking is easy...
The reprogramming is a simple procedure.
1. Turn on the ignition
2. Within 10 seconds hold the original plip pointed at the sensor, about 8" away from it and press either button
3. Within a further 10 seconds do the same for the new plip. (you see you need a spare key - or remove the blade)
4. Turn off the ignition and test plip.

This will only program the central locking, the imobiliser chip will have to be programed by a Peugeot dealer.
