Exhaust on 406

Post by Gotta New Pug »

As im on here, I thought i'd as a simple question, if my exhaust is making a metallic rattling noise around the centre box - does this mean a baffle has broken off? And if so would it fail an MOT for it?
Cheers

Have you got underneath and checked it not rattling against the heatshield? If its not then might be an idea to remove the centre section and give it a shake, see if anything comes out. Yes it can fail MOT.

the exhaust will not fail its mot test if it rattles.
it can only fail the mot if its leaking/blowing or if the cat,s not working, and if its insecure.

not so serious like you think, remove and change a new last section of exhaust.

What normally happens on a 406 is the centre pipe rots through where it joins the back box & because of the rubbish design & where the hangers are located the hot tailpipe then tilts up & melts the bumper.
