405 alarm imob help

Post by zippo1970 »

hi
ive got a 1995 405 td glx with aircon ,airbag and peugeot fitted alarm but no key pad
the alarm amazing is in full working order and very reliable
the problem i have is i do not have the master key to turn the alarm off under the bonnet which means i cannot disconect the battery because the alarm has battery back up and goes off continuos until the battery is reconnected
i have read on other posts that the alarm can be dissconected under the drivers seat but can this be left permanantly disconected as im not bothered about having an alarm working ?
will the remote locking and central locking still work ?
or better still is there anywhere i could get a key made to turn it off or change the lock for another ?
many thanks

Hi
That alarm lock is just an ON & OFF switch at the end of the day, The key part is to stop thieves turning the siren off quickly.
The siren is only ment to run for 5 minutes when the alarm is tampered with before shutting up.
You could goto a Peugeot dealer, Pay the £15 & get the key codes & radio code from them, The you order an alarm key, A very long winded process.
Or get a new keyswitch from Maplins or RS components & fit that instead, It wont be a perfect match for the original though.
To kill the alarm, You could unplug the control box ( You would need to bypass the immobiliser connection ) or pull the fuse & still have the remote locking, BUT you need to turn the siren off first!
I would fit a new keyswitch myself if it was my own car.

Getting the key from Peugeot will be expensive! Theres the £15 charge for them to look up the cars key numbers / radio code, Then theres the charge for the new key on top of that.

Hmmmm, Strange, The one I fiddled with on the 1995 405 I used to have had only 2 white wires going to the switch?
