406 tyre recommendation

Post by joyful »

I need new pair of rear tyres for 406 estate. I was going to get through Black Circles.
Any recommendations for type. Current tyres alround are Goodyear NCT.
Any recommendations for wear, economy, preformance ?

I've put Michelin Pilot Primacy on my 406 Estate. They weren't cheap but are lasting really well and grip well too. Like most of the more modern tyres they are supposed to have a lower rolling resistance and be more fuel efficient but, to be perfectly honest I doubt you'll really notice any difference. What I did notice when I bought a car acouple of years ago that had some of those energy saving tyres fitted was that any supposed fuel saving was at the expense of grip!
Like most things in life, tyres are a compromise. What one person raves about another hates but quite a few manufacturers fit Primacys as standard so they shouldn't be to bad. I'll definitely fit more when the time comes.
