HELP!! 406 Rear Track Control Arm Replacement

Can anybody advise on rear track control arm replacement. Once the old one is removed, for refitting does the wheel need to be free from the ground (on a jack) or can it be done with the wheel still on the groung and loaded (say on a ramp).
Any ideas or tips appreciated.
