306 xsi lag?

Post by khughes110 »

Hi

was wondering if anyone can help. I have a 306 xsi (16V) (1997) and under acceleration (mainly hard) the car is hesitant for a short period of time. After that it takes off. The feeling of hesitation can only be described as lag that you would get from a turbo car.
Intially i though it was air induction pipe collapsing in on its self but this has been replaced and has not cleared the problem.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated as I don't have a clue what it could be as other than that the engine is fine.
Thanks again
Kev

Probably best to get the ecu 'read' for fault codes. I've got an XSi and its has a bit of flat spot under acceleration so perhaps 'its a quirk of the model sir' as my local Peugeot service department would say.

Mines like that too... but i do have a non-standard bore exhaust so maybe there is too little back pressure ....

Not sure about the back pressure issue, because mine did before it was de-catted, and was the same afterwards. When it was last serviced the garage used Champion plugs instead of Bosch ones, which made it slightly better.

I have a 97 r 16v model and mine does the same. I find running on super UL helps get rid of the flatspots. Seems to like sainsburys super which is only 1 or 2p more than regular which is nice!

I solve the flatspot issue by driving something else. I only use it now when I have to.
