Tyres is a good place to start. Mine had Continental EcoContacts and the handling was so bad I repeatedly had the geometry and shocks checked. When I replaced them with trusted p6000s, the handling was transformed and felt really planted and confidence inspiring.
Check the dampers are in good nick. I doubt aftermarket dampers would improve things, but stiffer springs would reduce the roll.
Or you could do what I did, sell it and get a Xantia Activa. No roadholding problems there...

i'm running on Pirelli P6 205/60/15 on the original rims.
original dampers and springs.
also i'm looking forward to change by brake hoses to steel braided, does the Pug have any original parts on that?
any recommendation on rotors and pads apart frm originals and Valeo's...
is it advisable to put in a cross-drilled or slotted ones whilst on original pads and calipers... is there an original after market ones for the 406....on 15" wheels... i notice that the 406 coupe runs on Brembos..wonder what the 206RC180 is on??
over here its difficult to get a hold of after market kits / parts for the french cars as the demand is less. however, there is a growing demand for it...
any assistance would be appreciated.
thank you.

I couldn't find braided hoses anywhere for my 406.
You can get grooved discs, I have some BERTS BITS disks on my Xantia, which is the same size of disk.
You should look on ebay for a seller willing to ship worldwide.

Yes standard pads. They are quite noisy when braking, but that is cool.

Yes the BERTS are 283mm and I have only had them on for a few weeks, so have no indication of wear rates yet. I expect that due to the grooving of the disks that the pads would wear faster, which is why I use good quality standard pads, which are cheaper.

Good quality std pads, u refering to originals or the Valeo or Lucas or other OEM pads.
BTW, out of curiousity, how much does the BERTS and the pads cost in UK?
the original pads over here cost approximately GBP28 whereas Valeo cost GBP19.

I use Motaquip pads which are Peugeot/Citroen own brand and cost £20.
You can BERTS bits discs on ebay for £40 - £60
