405 STDT Estate

Post by skes »

Hi There
I have the above motor (93L) stood around doing nowt, cant really afford to get it back on the road, £380 for T&T & ins (as well as my camper) it is in fairly good condition with the odd marks here and there, but it's loosing water, not convinced if it's the gasket, i think an air lock, it's done about 115k and runs as sweet as a nut, any idea's on what i should sell/get for it.

Hi
I think I might have some 405 STDT trim bits in my loft if either of you are interested.
Im pretty sure I have a set of 4 x door cards minus the wood trim & a set of cloth front seat bases & backrests.
All are in the black & green stripy trim.

Hi
Im gonna have a clear out of all the 405 bits Ive collected over the years, Ive been squirreling bits away for a few years now & its time to get rid of them seeing as im now no longer a 405 owner.

PowerLee im sure theres enough people here to relieve you of all your spares, myself included. All those usefull bits you collect just incase, and since u clearly dont need them now (unless you intend to do something weird to a 206 using 405 bits) we can put them to a good home.
right off to change a clutch now this should be fun :)
cheers simon

Unfortunetley, at 115k I recon that's the beginnings of head gasket failure. Anything between 110k and 140k is prime-time for the OE head gasket to give up.
I'd be fairly interested in it if it's cheap, as my 405 Hunter is beginning to suffer poor compression and I need another engine to rebuild, to then do a straight swap with the one in it (I can't have it off the road for more than a day)
I also need a whole load of other bits and pieces that would make it worth buying a whole car, and breaking it for spares.

Keep it without a doubt. I sold my 405 and finished up a 306, which to me was a backward step.
