They are not quick. 9.0 seconds to 0-60 for a 2.0 supposed hot hatch is pretty p**s poor. The XSi does not deserve its hot hatch tag. I'd say the handbook would be best sourced from a Peugeot dealer though it tells you very little that you cannot work out for yourself. I wish i'd never bought ours, it makes a good load carrier, but fast and good handling? Not in my view.

After having a Mk2 Golf Gti Which in any one's book is classed as a hot hatch.
This Xsi is much quicker and better road handling,Sorry to disagree with you, but im impressed.

As long as you are happy that's all that matters. I prefer our 205 GTi, which is part the way to explaining why i'm underwhelmed by the 306.

The 306 is more set up towards the everyday driver & the chassis is geared towards good safe fun driving, Its a good handling car & will look after you if you have to take avoiding aciton, It wont bite back at you.
The 405 with a good driver will leave a 306 ( Unless its a S16 / GTI6 ) for dead down a twisty country road.
A 306 likewise will eat a 406 for breakfast in the same situation.
A early 405 will swop ends if you push too hard & dont know how to correct it, Even more so in the wet! The later 405s are better but you can still get the arse end wagging about, Getting the rear wheel in the air is easy too in the 405.
Peugeots chassis designs of late are still good handling cars, But they are nothing like they used to be.

What you mean is there are too many 'driver aids' in a 306 and it dilutes the fun factor as Peugeot have to cater for the stupidity of a large proportion of the population. The 205 1.6 GTi has a better power to weight ratio than the 306, with my Mi16 engine it is all the more noticable.
I think each generation of Peugeot lately has been worse than the car it replaced. I do like the air-con on the 306, but i'm quite capable of switching it on and off myself, rather than its ecu deciding what I may or may not want.

Hi
The 306 doesnt really have many driver aids, ABS is useful, The EBD ive never really tried out.
The aircon switching itself on ( Got on my tits when I had the 406 ) is sort of fixed in the newer Pugs, Still turns itself on but waits untill engine is running first.
I must say the 206 ive just got has fantastic brakes, ABS, EBD & EBA. It stops far better then the 405 I had before ever could & that had disc all round & Bosch 2E ABS.
The 306 is a cracking car dont get be wrong, Its just it looks like Peugeot will never build a go kart handling car like the 106, 205, 309, 405 again.
Its all geared towards the novice or everyday driver & safety.
The only Peugeot ive ever spun so far on cornering was the 406, I forgot it was a 406 & thought I was in a 405 still, Nuff said.

I came across a yobbed up xsi on Saturday with the stereotypical totty in the passenger seat whilst out testing in the Visa. It was almost embarrasing how quickly I went past him but then having an extra 100+ bhp/ton helps. He then did the normal thing of catching me up when I slowed back down and sat a foot from my rear bumper to try and prove something. Much like a Focus RS had done earlier after I cheeked it out of a roundabout [:)]
