Erratic speedo

Hi Guys
I have a 406 coupe 2 litre with an erratic or non workin speedo depending on how its feeling each day!!
I know its not the speedo interface cos thats just for the 3 litre. The problem also has the effect of causin a slight heswitation in the engine when the needle is flicking about. I assume its a sensor somewhere but dont know where or what, how and how much??!!!

Sounds like the speed pickup sensor to me. Not sure where this will be on your car but the EFI ECU will use it too hence the hesitation. You'll probably have some error codes in the ECU from it too which will need clearing.
