306 XSi (again...) > nearly sorted! (ECU Reset)

Post by Linchpin »

Hi again guys... thanks once more for all the help.
I took my car to a Diagnostic place today... and was told it needs a diag read and possibly some work done. I dont mind paying this, but i would like to try something 1st. Before my car started playing up, the battery was left disconnected for 6 months... now aparantly this can cause a problem with the ECU and it may need resetting? I heared also... that there was a way to "reset" the ECU without any diagnostic tools, and i would like to give this a shot if possible before forking out the near £200 for the bill...
Cheers for any advice (again) guys/gals..

I was reading on a ford site, to reset the ford ECU you D/C the battery, leave it for 30 mins, re-connect, power up ignition, but dont start, leave for 5 mins then start car, leave for 15 mins at idle with no Rev's? Does this work on Puggy's?
Cheers
