Front suspension spring failure on 406

Has anyone experienced front suspension spring failure on a 406? Mine broke, which then damaged the strut, brake pipe and rubbed on the the tyre causing it to blow. The manchanic at the peugeot dealership said he had never see a failure like this before. When I went to collect my car, another 406 on the back of an AA van pulled in with the same failure.
