Hi all,
During the night some scumbag (putting it politly!!) has taken it upon themselves for unknown reasons to cut the handbrake cable through on the old dears 306 and also cut a wiring loom in half.
I think the loom goes to the rear ABS sensors, there are 4 wires in this loom, 2 green and 2 brown.
The ABS warning light is illuminated on the dash hence the reason that i think that the loom is for the ABS sensors.
I have soldered the wires back together but the ABS warning light is still illuminated on the dash.
I have'nt replaced the hand brake cable to the passenger side rear whell yet so could that be the cause or does the ABS system have to be reset by Peugeot?
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi
A Lucus or Bendix ABS system is what you should find under this 306s bonnet.
My Peugeot technician mate said if the wires are connected up correctly ( You havent mixed the Green & Browns up? ) & the ABS light is still stuck on then get the ABS fault codes read by a Peugeot or Lucus / Bendix agent & go from there.
I would double check those wires you soldered back together again first, make sure you havent crossed them.
The ABS system will stick the warning light on at the first sign of a dodgy wire or connection somewhere in the system so have a good look over it again.

The green and brown wires were twisted together in pairs (green & brown + green & brown).
I've had to guess which 2 go to the other 2 from looking at the direction of the cuts and mating them up if you know what i mean.
I will try reversing them tomorrow when I replace the handbrake cable (if the scumbags don't come back again in the night to try and remove the car from the drive!!)
I will also have another look over the car to check for any other damaged wires but as far as i can see its only the 4 that are cut.
Cheers for your help and I'll let you know how I get on.

Hi
You need to match those wires up correctly, It sounds like one or both pairs of wires is crossed & the ABS unit is going to record one or two dodgy sensors & stick the light on.
One green & one brown wire per sensor, Have a look for small black numbers on the outside of each wire or use a multimeter to match them up.
That 306 will have a Cat 2 immobiliser on it from the factory, They would need to be very clued up to beat it & drive the car away.

some people were spoted in the early hours of the morning with one of those car trailers that lifts the front wheels off the ground.
Shame the people that saw it didn't get a reg No.
I will have another look tomorrow and let you know.
The ABS light was on when the wires were cut so i was thinking that system may need reseting?

I've managed to get the abs warning light to go out.
I didn't bother trying to reverse the wires as I felt pretty sure that I had connected them correctly.
All I had to do was drive the car a short distance.
I pressume on the ABS system just starting the engine and pumping the peddle isn't enough (and I had only driven it off the ramps) so I guess that wasn't far enough for the control unit to get the signal from the sensors that the wheels were turning.
Thanks for the help it was appreciated!!
