306 lower ball joint

Post by duggie »

l need to replace the lower ball joint on a 93 306 1.4 petrol, the ball joint is riveted into the wishbone, do l have to replace the wishbone or could l drill/grind the rivets out and replace just the ball joint?
Many thanks.

My daughter's 306 has the ball joints bolted with three bolts. Presumably, you can drill the rivets and replace with suitable bolts.

Hi John, thats what l was thinking, lve just managed to remove the rivets, the newer models must have been fitted with bolts, l'm hoping the replacement ball joint will fit straight in.

a bolt on ball joint will fit.grind off the rivet heads with an angle grinder, knock out the remainder of the rivets, the new ball joint will just slot in and use the new bolts supplied with the ball joint.
