Airbag warning lights

Post by batwad »

I've just been reading the handbook for my 306 (okay, I'm rather bored at the moment [:(]) and reading the section on the airbags, it says that the airbag warning lights should come on for six seconds when you turn on the ignition. It occurs to me that I've never seen the airbag lights come on.
The manual says to contact a Peugeot dealer if the lights don't come on, do not go out or flash continuously. Before I do so, does anyone know of anything that I can check first?

Hi
Have you checked the airbag bulb hasn't blown on the instrument panel?
You mention warning lights, Is this an early 306 with the red warning light on the steering wheel & the yellow warning light on the instrument panel?

It's a 2000 phase 3. I haven't checked the bulb as that involves taking the airbag off and I didn't fancy much playing around with it. Also, the handbook says there's at least two warning lights on the instrument panel and for both bulb to have gone would be pretty bad luck.

I've just had a look on my Mum's 2001 phase 3 306 and she has got the 2 airbag lights on hers that come on then go off after a few seconds.
One light says airbag and the other one is for the passenger airbag and has a picture on it.
you could try turning the passenger airbag off using the key and see if the light stays on with the engine running as it's supposed to.
If it doesn't you may have a blown fuse somewhere?
