idle speed on a 405

Post by caveman_si »

car is a 405 1.9td with a/c
Any idea what the idle should be? Also i can stick it in 1st take my foot off all the peddles and the car happily drives at 10-20mph. is this normal or an indication that the idle is too high?
and you guessed it if so how do i change it? the haynes bol seems a bit confusing when i read it on this matter.
cheers folks

Idle for this engine should be 800-850 rpm. The setting for this is on the "back" of the injection pump, a screw and locknut on a small lever.
The cold fast idle device (wax unit, very rarely works) moves this lever when the engine is cold, so do this setting when the engine is at temperature. I will see if I can get an image up.
