Central Locking "cycling" 405

Post by David Humphrey »

When it is very cold or damp the central locking on my car opens and then immediately shuts again when you use the infra red plip.I assume it must be an earth or faulty connection because if you keep plipping it eventually stays open.
Any suggestions please

Hi
Does it cycle open & closed if you use the front door buttons to activate the central locking?
Does it do it if you unlock with the key in the door lock?
Does this 405 have a drivers airbag? There was a modification to the central locking on these later cars.

Thanks.
It doesn't have an airbag and I haven't tried a key in the door yet.
If you use the key do you use the plip to turn the alarm / immobiliser off ?
It hasn't done it again today . Just first thing when it was icy.

If one of the locking mechanism's was frozen.. maybe that's what caused it ?

david,
try changing the central lock relay under the latch.it should be a rectangular box grey or black in colour.
in malaysia, this would normally cost around RM140 or RM200 roughly GBP30.

Hi
If the car is locked with the remote plip then opened with the key operated in the door lock the alarm will go off & the imobiliser will be armed.
It coluld just want some lubrication on the locking system
The early 405 like yours have a very very serious security flaw!
I will not post details on this public forum about it, But email me at PowerLee@aol.com
