Hi folks. My son has a BIG problem with his V reg 306 Turbo Diesel. About 3 weeks ago the car would not start one morning. No fuel getting to the injectors and the engine management light was on. Eventually the car was towed to a local Peugeot specialist (not main dealer) who said that the key was talking to the transponder but the transponder didn't seem to be talking to the ECU. Specialist sent the ECU away to be checked out and the report came back that it was supposedly OK. Not sure why but the Specialist then tried another ECU in the car and it started but the engine management light came on. I'm not sure of the exact detail next but apparently they then sent the original ECU and the new one to the ECU specialists, who copied the data from the new ECU on to my son's original ECU (are you keeping up at the back ?)
They then fitted the original ECU back in to the car, reset the transponder and everything seemed to be ok. This had taken 3 weeks to get to this stage. My son picked the car up yesterday and drove it for about 10 miles, including taking it up to 80mph, and everything seemed fine. He got in it this morning to go to work drove about 2 miles then felt a judder, the management light came on and he began to lose power. He didn't go to work, instead he took it back to the garage where they put the diagnostics on and said that it was an intermittent problem on the 4th injector. They cleared the fault light and said it could have been dirt in the fuel or any number of other things and sent my son on his way. The car drove ok for a couple of miles and then the light came back on and the car began hesitating. Does anyone have any ideas based on these symptoms. He could go back to the "specialist" who has charged him £450 so far but has taken 3 weeks to get to this point or a trip to a Peugeot main dealer might solve this in a couple of hours. Thoughts please????
Thanks
Dave
ECU or Injectors?

I take it that this is an HDI ?
I have had a lot of trouble with injectors on mine, namely rattling / knocking which sounded like pinking on a petrol car.
I don't have any idea what the problem is on this particular 306. I always thought that the immobilizer is done with some sort of dual relay on the HDI that powers up the ECU (or part of it), and that once the engine has started that the ECU can hold the relay in itself without needing the immobilizer.
Hesitation could be caused by many things. Really one needs to drive the car with the analyser attached and make sure that the rail pressure and low pressure from the pump are stable along with boost pressure.
