Hi, are you only trying to programe one remote key or two?
The keypad needs two keys programed in to work.
If you dont have a second remote key for the car, Where it says second key in the instructions, Just programe key one again as the second key & it should work.

Just had a good rummage around my fuse box area to check for any damaged fuses, and found two little black boxes, one is linked to the security keypad, and the other, a smaller box seems to be wired up to just about everything, and sports a sticker just saying 'SENSIBILITE' and a small screw with - and +. Does this adjust the sensitivity of something?
Regards
John

Hi
Does your 406 have the wondeful Peugeot defender alarm system fitted?
Any small ultrasonic sensors on the top of the A post trims?

Yeah, got two black speaker type things, one on each side of pillars, and also a dodgy red LED that never seems to work down near headlight beam adjusters. If its the said Defender alarm, how could I bring it back to life cos at the mo it wont trigger anything, even with car locked and dog running wild inside!
Would think its all genuine cos its all interlinked to the keypad, but then someone might have been a clever so and so?

Hi
Look inside boot on o/s of back panel. If it is the same as mine you will have a silver key switch. It may have been turned off if it was causing problems. The only problem you may have is that it is a special key to operate switch. If you did not recieve this key when you bought car your only option as I did is to find a locksmith who can cut a key to lock.

The best thing to do with any PSA / Texton / Defender alarm is throw it in the skip!
They ALWAYS cause problems as the car gets older!

ok, cant find no key operated switch anywhere, I took most of boot lining out, looked behind headlamps, under dash board, one thing that bothers me though, I disconnected the battery whilst I was messing under dash so wouldn't shock myself, put all back together ok, connected battery.... and BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP ...... Alarm started sounding the horn for about 30 seconds, cant shut it up with key pad, plip on keys wont stop it, what have I done? Only battery was disconnected nothing else!
I cant even drive my car as everytime the alarm re-sets, it goes off again with either a switch press or door opening, window up and down, bonnet opening or movement inside car. Engine does start though!
Should have listened to the old saying 'If it aint broke, dont fix it!'
Can anyone please please help as I need my car for work

Hi
The alarm started sounding the horn, Thats not a factory fit Peugeot alarm!
Factory fit Peugeot alarms have a battery back up siren & that would have gone off as sonn as you disconnected the battery.
It sounds like an aftermarket alarm / or more likely a basic Defender dealer upgrade kit or has been installed on this car.

O.K, problems problems problems im affraid, still having problems with bl**dy alarm, still triggering everytime there is movement, electric current change or ignition start - but engine does start and run!.
Took both black boxes out from behind my headlamp adjuster switch, and as far as I can see, there is no peugeot sticker or stamp - or anythin really, apart from the small adjuster screw with a small sticker saying ' -SENSIBLITE+ ' above it. Adjusting this screw does nothing that I can tell.
Only thing I can think of is to try and de-wire the whole lot, but as its connected to security keypad, i'm scared of locking my engine up completly.
Does anyone have any idea of which alarm systems use the 'sensiblite' adjuster switch/screw and how to hopefully disable the sodding thing!?!
Only had my car for 4 week, but now starting to wish I stayed with German motors!
Many Many thanks

Hi
The ultra sonic sensors you have fitted, Are they covered up with a small grey plastic cover or are they just screwed on to the A post?
Have you tried disconnecting the battery again, Waiting a minute then reconnecting it again.
When you reconnect the battery the alarm should auto arm its self, Either try pliping it or turning the ignition on quickly.
Worth a shot.

It has black casing around the sensors and are clipped to the plastic A frame trim. Disconnecting battery isnt making any difference, I was told that if I leave the key in ignition with it set to position 2 (all ignition lights on but not crank) then disconnect battery, wait 5 mins and re-connect with key still in, everything should auto code itself except the radio, but on the other side, could erase ECU memory. Naturally, I dont wanna bugger my car up so wont do this till I have some sound assurance!

NEVER EVER disconnect the battery with the key in the ignition!
You risk doing some SERIOUS damage if you do!
You risk expensive damage to the alternator, ECU & triggering the airbags & seatbelt pretensioners!
A black casing around the ultra sonics now tells me this ISNT a factory fit Peugeot alarm, Its been added on later in the cars life.
If you do ever disconect the battery, The radio will need its 4 digit security code & the ECU will reset to base factory setting.
All you have to do when you reconect the battery is just enter the radio code & start & drive the car for about 15 miles to block learn the ECU, It WILL run rough & might be a sod to start untill it relearns, Nothing to worry about.
Make sure the key is in your pocket when you reconect the battery, In case the car decides to lock itself.

Phew, good job I didn't do that then! Thanks for that advice mate.
Got the car booked for an expert to have a look at, costing me £160ish so hope they bloody well fix it! Will let everyone know what happens - or doesn't for that matter,
Many thanks everyone - especially PowerLee, you deserve a medal!

O.K,
Back on the road, business as usual, alarm didn't need disconnecting, the alarm specialist just took battery leads off, un-plugged the wire harness that joins alarm ecu to keypad, re-connected battery, then wire harness, and hey presto!
Didn't even charge me as it took him 5 minutes to work out. Apparently I have a Defender 2 alarm system - the easiest for car thiefs to dis-arm, and hence I ordered a Clifford G4 (Due to be fitted tomorrow!)
Are Peugeot just the dumbest people on earth for giving us these poxy alarm systems or what?

Hi
Just a quick warning, I have a Clifford G4 too, If your having the wireless fuelguard installed with it, Make sure it wired up correctly with the keypad!
If it does have the fuelguard system when its installed try this.
Disarm the Clifford, Dont start the car & let the Clifford imobiliser cut in again ( 30 seconds ) With the ignition switch on disarm the Clifford & try starting the car & see if the Cliffords imobiliser works ok.
