Hi all
Looking to buy a 1998 'S' plate 1.9 GLXTD estate 406 in the next couple of weeks. It is from a friends dad who has been honest enough to point out a couple of faults.
Firstly, the stop warning light is on and has been for about 3 years since he bought it. Local garage has serviced it all this time, and it drives without a problem. Is there a common fault with this and is it cheap to rectify?
Secondly, the immobiliser doesn't always disengage first time when switching ignition on. Occasionally, it may take a few turns to get it to start. I stress that this is only occasionally! Is there a usual fix for this? Does anyone have experience with the same type of problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

The STOP light is gonna be a faulty conection or sensor somewhere, Could also be a faluty earth connection.
The imobiliser problem will be the transponder aerial around the ignition barrel, They start to fail as the car gets older.
Peugeot modified this part around the middle of Oct 1998 because of this very problem.
Try the spare key to confirm this, Then pop along to a Peugeot dealer & pick one up.
They are less then £30 & a really easy job to change.
