306 petrol-intermittant stalling

Post by Degsysn51 »

Friend of mine has a v reg 306 petrol(don't know which engine)which stalls/cuts out regularly.Main dealer says it's the ecu which has failed and to replace will cost £600.Firstly is this a common problem with this car and secondly does anybody know where the replacement part can be acqired more cheaply.Scrappies have so far proved fruitless.I know that if I need parts for my Rover I never use the dealer but a company like Best of British Rover who sell the parts for a fraction of the dealer price. Is there an equivalent Peugeot site that you know of?

Sounds like the dealer has a couple spare ECUs he wants to shift! ECUs tend to work or not.
Much more likely to be a sensor giving out of band readings that are confusing the ECU. Get the codes read from the ECU, and let that be your guide.
