interesting question for everyone, but if you mix bosch injectors with a lucas pump, is that likely to give a lot of diesel knock?. I know that the studs mounting the pumps are in different holes, and i have moved them to the spaces where they were on the other engine, and although it runs, it would appear to have quite a bit of knock. should I try the lucas injectors, or try moving the pump mountings back to where they were for the bosch pump.

Definitely use Lucas injectors and possibly injector pipes as well. Knock is quite likely with mixed components. The injectors have different opening pressures to match their respective pumps.
Whilst the Lucas injectors are out it might not be a bad idea to get them serviced

The injection timing is also probably out if its knocking (too advanced). In fact it is most definatly out if you have removed and swapped the pumps. You need a dial gauge to set them accuratly.
