I think it's about time that I familiarised myself with the servicing needs of my lovely new motor [:)]
It's done 68k and I seem to recall reading somewhere that the cambelt interval is the same as for the XUD engines (i.e.: 72k). Can anyone confirm, deny or advise otherwise?
Also, when's the clutch likely to need replacing?
I know there's not a Haynes Book of Lies that covers the 306 HDi but do any of the other books cover the 90bhp HDi engine? 406? Xsara?

Cambelt interval on my Berlingo HDi is supposed to be 100,000!! No chance. It's coming up to 40,000 miles and I am giving serious thoughts to changing it soon.
Clutch. They need replacing when they stop clutching. A little old lady who was a customer at a garage I worked at years ago would burn a clutch out in 6 months, where as, I owned a Ford Escort diesel that I got 126,000 miles out of one. It all depends on your driving style and usage.

If you intend keeping the car a while and have the spare cash it would be better to change the cambelt at the next service. You will have to change it at some stage and in my book the sooner the better with things like that. I’m also not a big fan of the extended service intervals on the newer cars. I have the feeling that the manufactures are doing it to make the running costs look cheaper to the fleet market. Personally even if I had a newer car I’d still be doing an oil filter change every 6,000 miles. Since even a modern diesel is still a very dirty engine and the turbo bakes the oil on a regular basis.
Clutch life as Dave said depends a lot on driving style, lots of hard acceleration or excessive slipping of the clutch will shorten its life. My father only replaced the cultch in his Primera once in 260,000 miles and that was mostly town driving as a taxi. So with careful treatment you can easily get over 100,000 miles out of a clutch, but since the car is second hand your reliant on now the pervious driver treated the car.

I'm no lover of the extended service intervals too. 12500 miles is far too long for a diesel in my opinion, as recomended for my Berlingo. I change the oil at 6000 miles using synthetic and a Purflux filter.
