Xantia Reversing Lights

Post by julianashcroft »

Hello. I have a 2000 Xantia 1.8 Estate. My reversing lights have stoopped working, checked the bulbs and the fuses and these are okay. Heard there might be a reversing switch somewhere. Is this something a not very mechanically minded person can check (and change if necessary)?
Of interest when I put the car into reverse, the fog lamp indicator (I think) on the dash lights up.
while I'm here my boot lock seems a bit intermitent. several presses of the remote are needed sometimes to unlock it and often it doesn't lock.
Thanks for any help.

By the sound of things you have a grounding (earth) problem at the back end of the car. If a warning light comes on when you are in reverse then your switch is ok even if it is the wrong light. Have you checked your brake and tail lights? A poor earth connection can do strange things!

Sounds like it could be a earth problem if the fog light warning light lights up.The reverse light switch is on top of the gearbox casing."You may have to remove the air filter housing & battery tray"from the haynes book.
