weird dash light

I have noticed recently that every so often i get a weird orange light come on at the dashboard. its one from the right control panel and looks a bit like a car with 2 wing mirrors sticking out of it. it only comes on for a second or 2 before going out again.

no mate, definatley not? besides i dont have the light come on when i open the doors at any other time? as far as im aware xantias of this age do not have a door warning light?

Not a 'water in filter' light?

If its top right on the CP, orange and looks like a vertical 'pill' with little breaks =()= either side and is dark in the bottom of the pill then it is the 'water in fuel light'. Mine was playing up recently, it was the actually sensor that was knackered, swapped the sensor over from another engine and all was well.

Right adzbaby, that is the correct term. It could mean there is actually water in the fuel! Drain off the filter from the bottom draincock into a jar (tube fixed) and see if the light goes out. If it doesn't, could be a faulty sensor indeed.
