Having recently had my 52 reg citroen saxo 1.1 in for its 2 year service I was amazed to be told that the front brake discs were severely corroded and was quoted £197 + vat for them to be replaced ...not covered by the warranty.
I was told this was due to my low mileage(8000 the first year and 9000 the second!!!)
Has anybody else had experience of this or does anybody have any advice?

Wife'sPeugeot 106 neede new discs after 15k miles: she drives and brakes gently. Since I changed them myself with parts from H######s for abouit £55 I dsrive it once a week and give it an Italian tuneup. No problems now...
Brake hard at least once a week. If you wash the car and let it dry normally the discs will corrode. If you use wheelcleaners (eg Wonder Wheels) they are acidic and make things worse.
Always try to dry the disks after washing the car: a few stops in your drive from 5mph will help..
