You'll need a new or moded ECU for the injectors, I would have thought.

Ive got a zx 1.4i and personally i wouldnt bother converting it to a mpi as it wouldnt increase the engine bhp at all. Look at the xsara 1.4i mpi power output figure they are the same as the spi unit. If you want more power I would chip it and put an induction kit etc on it. Or get a quicker car to start with.

sorry I didn't make myself clear. I'm not converting but swaping from a 1.4 SPI to a 1.4 MPI, my SPI has developed a 'knock' and I have been offered a MPI at like £40

So you mean that you want to swap your 1.4i engine with 1.4i engine out of an xsara with multi point injection. My zx 1.4i engine also knocks when cold and a bit when worn. I have been told by a few citroen mechanics and pug mechanics that its a characteristic of the engine.

yep thats about the long and shhort of it.
Characteristic of the engine? suppose it could fit with the clunky gearbox

yep my gearbox is clunky as well.
