Cooling system

Post by np »

Having read the "book of lies" & past topics on the forum,it apeers you need to make a header tank/bottle when filling the cooling system.
After doing mine today with new anti freeze,& the past 3 times when replacing the rad etc,i have never had to do this.Today,i drained the system, flushed the rad & engine, the filled up the header tank with new anti freeze & water mix,ran the engine, drove for a mile or so with the heater on,the topped up the level when it had cooled down.
Car warms up as normal, temp as normal, plenty of heat through the heater. No air locks etc,all ok.
Why is this???

Nothing much to rigging up a header tank, I use a length of regular waste pipe with a dishcloth over the end. Jam the dishcloth covered end into the filler neck and Robert is your father's brother.
