Humming under braking

Post by Chris Peddie »

Greetings all,
I'm getting a distinct humming noise under moderate to heavy braking, which seems to be coming from the drivers side front, I think, though with these things you can never be sure!
Changed discs/pads (along with rear engine mount, handbrake cables and flexi hoses) last w/e as I thought worn out pads/discs to be the cause (the pads had definately expired!) but as the new bits bed-in the noise is returning. Nothing seems to be rubbing on anything else I can see, no marks etc.
The noise has been getting gradually louder over the past month or so, but only occurs under braking. Any thoughts on what to try next?
Cheers,
Chris

Had a simalar thing an a Focus 3 door. Sounded like a bearing. Turned out to be a deformed inside tyre wall. Check all tyres for any deformation.
