Bitron - general info please

Post by Robin »

Professionally I don't get involved in electronics or 'fancy' control gizmos. Generally speaking electricity and sea water are best kept apart!
The car is one of the last pre facelift 1.9TD Xantia, which is why it was so cheap new. I have been suffering mildly from occasional cooling fan inoperation although they function as required with the A/C. Have just replaced the sensor on the thermostat housing and have yet to see if that cures the problem.
However could someone explain what the 'Bitron' unit actually does please? The Guy at the Citroen parts counter wanted to sell me the part of the Bitron control that is just by the radiator?????
Does any of this make sense to anyone? Robin

Any help?
If not, might be a good starting point.
