xantia temp warning lght

Post by deano »

Hi
recently boughta w reg xantia hdi, great car so far. One thing which i'm not sure about is that from time to time the the temp light and stop light flash together. Temperature has never been above 90c. sometimes it does it as soon as you start the car. While these lights are on one of the fans is going, and stops when the lights stop flashing.
any idea
cheers

does the car have two cooling fans ? try spinning both of them by hand (obvously make sure the engine is totally cold)to see if they turn freely, one of them may be partially siezed,or if only one of them is working the its likely to be the faulty fan causing this. failing that have a look at the relays situated in between the two fans they are under a black cover, check them for corrosion.

Hi
cheer for the reply, you are correct there are two fans, the one which does not spin is moving freely thow, not seized. Will have a look at the relays later,
thanks for your advice
