Have a problem with my 96 Xantia alarm. locked the car and set the
alarm with the 2 button IR plip the other night - next morning plip
would not unlock it, plip has died - even with new batteries and re
soldered joints no signal can be seen with digi camera. Got into car
with key - pulled fuse 15 and alarm eventually died (key under bonnet
did not stop it.) I got myself a new second hand plip which appears to
work ok but I can't re code it because every time I replace fuse 15
the alarm resets itself and then goes off when you move in the car,
red LED on dash is flashing as though the alarm is set . I assume the
alarm must not be on in order to recode the plip ?. do any of you know
how to reset the alarm control box ?. control is Texton 96203000.80 and all wires / plugs look in A1 condition.- any help would be appreciated.
Alarm wo-wo woe

the answer to your posts is :-
Yes I have tried that - but I think that only works as a pre active thing - I think as the alarm is activated the car thinks it is been broken into. the button on the dash is to disable the sensor prior to setting the alarm if you have a animal in the car etc. ( I may be wrong I usually am...)
I have had the control box unplugged for approx 15 mins (out of the car) plus the time without fuse 15 and as soon as it is pluged back in again and fuse 15 replaced the LED on the dash lights as though the alarm is armed. The alarm then activates because of movement in the car and removing fuse 15 puts the alarm into battery back up which dies after approx 2 - 3 mins. the key under the bonet seems to have no effect. As I see it the challange is to make the control box think it is in normal mode i.e. disarm it without the plip

The button on the dash has two uses.
(1) To set the alarm without the ultrasonics, with the ignition on, press the button until the red alarm light comes on continuously. Switch off, get out, lock and set alarm as normal.
(2) To disable the alarm without the remote control; unlock the door with the key, get in (alarm sounding), within 10 seconds press and hold the button while turning on the ignition.
