Hi all,
I'm about to change the timing belt on my 1993 Xantia (1.8 8V). Can anyone out there confirm that the crankshaft pulley bolt is a right-hand thread. I can't seem to find any reference to this on the forum but I do remember reading somewhere that somebody had removed it by wedging a spanner and giving the starter a quick boost (I am not going to do this) - this suggests it a RH thread as the engine rotates clockwise from the pulley end. Guess I'll be selecting 4th and using the brakes unless I can find another way of preventing the crankshapt rotating.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Cheers,
Chris.

Yes right hand thread, have the engine at operating temperature (because of threadlock on the bolt) and select fifth instead, the higher the gear the better and this method should suffice, if not you will have to lock the starter ring gear on the flywheel against the bellhousing, purpose made tools are available for this.
