Xantia Heater Problems

Post by andrewhall »

Dear All
New Member looking for help/advice.
I have a 1997 Xantia TD (AC Model).
Just replaced the infamous "Clutch Clip" with help from the forum posts.
Now the heater/blower has stopped working. The A/C is therfore not working also. I have checked fuses - All OK under the dash. I have replaced the heater control panel - Still no joy.
Anyone with any ideas ?
Thanks
Andrew

It could well be the ignition switch as Citroen in their 'wisdom' decided to wire the heater fan directly via this switch rather than use a relay. The consequence is that the terminals arc and heat up until eventually they do not make contact under load. If you are familiar with electrics then you could try bypassing the ignition switch with a test lead etc.

Thanks Richard
I've looked hard at the wiring diagrams and they are quite confusing - (I'm a Chemist and not an electrician). I did however remove all electrical connections I could find, cleaned them and put them back together and HEY PRESTO! My Heater?Blower is working perfectly again.
Again - Many thanks for the advice

Pretty normal. A classic XM problem.
It's a good job Citroen didn't build aircraft..
:-))
