What size engine and how old?
Also when you say hesitate do you mean stall, cut out or some thing else?

Coil pack or plugs is my first guess.

I have a Xsara 1.8 exclusive and had problems with it last year. Cutting out revs dropping etc but only when very hot. I too checked connectors/plugs and was also told that it could be sparkplugs /coil pack. After a couple of months of trying to solve it myself I paid (£40)to a local independant fuel ignition specialist, to have a look at it on his Bosch diagnostic equipment. No fault codes had been stored in the ECU memory but after a couple of hours idling in the garage hooked up to the diagostic machine and getting very hot it showed that the MAP (manifold air pressure sensor) was faulty. I purchased one from an other independant Citroen specialist (approx £70) and hey presto! car has went like a dream ever since. The MAP sensor is only held in by one 6mm hex headed bolt (10mm) but is very awkward (on my engine)to get at. Hope this helps[8D]
