bx reverse lights

Bit of a problem with the old girl(nothing new there then!), when the ignition is turned on the reverse lights come on.
I've tried selecting every gear and this makes no difference they are just on constantly.
Any ideas?

Maybe the switch for the reverse lights in the gearbox has broken?

Try pulling the wires off the switch and if the lights go off then the switch is duff. If they don't, you are looking for a short circuit.

Looks like this will have to go down as unsolved.
The situation seems to have rectified itself...Electrical gremlin somewhere...Strange![:0][:)]

I had this on a 2-pot Visa. Rev lights would sporadically stay on, but everything always seemed to check out OK. I eventually clamped the reverse light switch in the vice overnight, and sure enough in the morning it didn't break the circuit when released. Fitted the spare from the spare 'box I had and all was OK again.
