Whistling ZX Turbo

Post by kinrsole »

There's a whistling noise on my ZX Volcane TD which gets worse under load. I’ve lived with it for the last 6 months but it is getting louder. I’ve read a few other posts in the forum relating to this problem and as a result I have changed the rubber gasket in between the inlet manifold and the intercooler. I’m wondering which road to go down next. Should I change the inlet manifold gasket next or the big rubber pipe from the turbo or am I barking up the wrong tree. A pointer as to which order to change things would be cool
Cheers

Given the difficulties in removing the manifolds I would take the pipework off the turbo and carefully inspect it for any splits etc first. Also examine the intercooler carefully.
Note that some of them just seem to whistle anyway, and often quieten down with a good oil change.

I've had two TD Xantias which started whistling and in each case it was exhaust related.
